Sammy’s First Birthday, September 16

Posted Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 at 4:55pm by Stephen

Recently, Vikki sent us some pictures, and I realized I never wrote about Sammy’s first birthday in detail. I want to thank everyone who came to the party. We had a great time, the weather was perfect, and Sammy received some very thoughtful gifts, which he loves.

Here are some of Vikki’s photos:

Kimi prepared a chocolate bunny cake with sprinkles (and she thought she’d never use that bunny-shaped cake pan her mom gave her).

No blog entry is complete without some gratuitous Stephen Wong:

The Sammy stands alone…

He’s not walking yet, but a very positive step: Sammy can now stand up and stay balanced for a few seconds. His nose can also run profusely, possibly because he (like Kimi and I) is again battling a cold.

I am surprised.

Almost the Pumpkin Festival

Posted Sunday, October 15th, 2006 at 8:27pm by Stephen

Sunday, October 15 was the Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival, but we didn’t get to see that. We left in the early afternoon but traffic was backed up to 280, and after an hour of driving, we’d only made it to the nearby farms. So we stopped and looked at the pumpkins for sale.

Kimi had dressed Sammy in his Tigger outfit, and while I am biased, I think at that moment he was the cutest baby on Earth.

I don’t even know the names of all of these little pumpkin farms. The first had a petting zoo and carnival food stand (where we had hot chocolate and nachos because we were starving). The second had a more elaborate set of activities including pony rides, hay rides, and a haunted house. The third was Lemos Farm, across the street from the first two, and it had all of those activities plus several live bands and a ghost train ride. Oh, and pumpkins for sale.

Well, as I said before, my new role at TiVo is to be Director of TiVoCast Operations — TiVoCast is the ability of Series2 units connected to the Internet via broadband to download content straight to Now Playing.

We have partnerships with CNet, Heavy (watch out, since that one’s on the border of NSFW), and iVillage, among others.

As of today, you can now head to TiVo Central Online and sign up for TiVoCast nice and easy! Yup, TiVoCast has come to TiVo Central Online.

Kira and Tomi come to visit

Posted Thursday, October 5th, 2006 at 1:36pm by Stephen

Yesterday my sister-in-law Tomi and my niece Kira came to visit. Kimi is between jobs, so she picked them up from the airport and has been showing them around. I’ll add some pictures soon (I know I keep saying that). Kira and Sammy get along well, even though she’s 3-and-a-half. Predictably, Sammy had a rough night last night, crying uncontrollably quite a few times to wake up Kira and Tomi and welcome them to the home. He’s been not feeling well (fighting the same cough that keeps me down a bit) as well as teething.
