Stupid Survivor decisions
This is, in my opinion, the second dumbest Survivor decision in Survivor history.
(Spoilers after the break; don’t read if you haven’t seen the Survivor episode from Thursday, March 1st.)
So you’ve got one team living in luxury and winning all the challenges. They started one person down (10 vs. 9) due to someone dropping out right before the season began. This week they lose another person to general illness. (Buh-bye, Papa Smurf, sorry you couldn’t cut it.) The other team has lost three immunity challenges and is down to seven. So even though Moto hasn’t lost a challenge, it’s still pretty close, 8 vs. 7. Numbers superiority is enormously important, because you basically want to outnumber the other tribe at the merge and vote them out one by one.
So, you win yet another immunity challenge, but here comes a twist: You find out that even though you won, you either have to vote someone out of your tribe anyway (leaving you with 7 vs. 7), or else give up your luxurious living conditions for a week.
To me the answer is obvious. This is Survivor; tough it out. You’re not supposed to be living in luxury anyway. Try it out at the basic camp, win the next event, keep the numeric advantage. But no, Moto went the easy route, and then, to compound the mistake, voted out one of their physically strongest tribe members.
The only decision that I think was dumber in Survivor’s history was Cindy’s decision in Survivor: Guatemala to keep the car for herself instead of giving a new car to each of the other players still in. (Keeping it for herself alienated two other players who voted her out right away; if she had instead given the cars away, she would have earned enough money by advancing a place that could have bought herself two cars.)

I TOTALLY agree! The stupidest thing about that was they all voted to stay at their camp and I’ll bet none of them thought “Oh gee! Maybe I’M the one who will get voted off!”
Of course I was happy to see that the Moto tribe suffered since the only reason they’ve been successful is because they won that very first challenge. Ravu has been down for a while and hasn’t been able to catch up.
Papa Smurf was making me crazy. He seemed fine when he wasn’t at camp, but at camp he was all dizzy and stuff. I’ll bet he was suffering from dehydration. He’s a big guy and I’ll bet he wasn’t drinking enough.
AND! What the heck came out of that snake’s mouth???? Did it try to eat another snake? It was SO gross!

I don’t get it either, they must have already formed an alliance and were itching to exercise their power. Really dumb move on their part. I bet that after having to endure such a tough environment the other tribe votes as a block when they merge.
The video of the snake was a great shot, it was actually shedding it’s skin, but the way they filmed it made it look like the snake was regurgitating lunch.

I’m having a hard time watching Survivor this season. It’s so incredibly one-sided.
And about those Sumos… why didn’t the Ravu tribe just step aside when one of the Moto people got running starts? I just feel so bad for them.
And a continually reoccuring pet peeve of mine is that when people have personality conflicts with someone, they almost NEVER confront them. They tell someone else in secrecy about how they can’t stand this or that. What would have been so hard about saying to Rita “Do you mind having that conversation a little farther away from where I’m trying to sleep?”. Or “I’m sorry to report that your stories aren’t as interesting to the whole tribe as you think they are.” Makes me crazy! Also makes me hope that friends in my life can confront me with things that bother them. Why else would we be friends? I guess though that they aren’t friends, but rather competitors. *sigh

Not saying that he’s an easy fellow to have compassion for, but I feel that poor Rocky’s pain. He just seems so stinkin’ hungry and desperate to win a challenge but keeps getting let down by his team. He was a fairly lean fellow to begin with, and you can literally see him dropping a bit more weight each episode.
