Posted Friday, April 20th, 2007 at 1:44am by Stephen

In just a few hours, the shuttle comes to pick us up, and we’re off to the big island of Hawaii (Kona side). So no blog updates for a bit. See you all soon.

Unary Sammy vocabulary

Posted Thursday, April 12th, 2007 at 8:48am by Stephen

For a few weeks now if you ask Sammy “What color is this?” the answer is always “Blue!”

Today Kimi called me over to show me that Sammy now knows how to count. He points at the various objects he’s counting and says, “Two, two, two, two, two, two, two, TWO!”

Love David Pogue so much

This article certainly made my day. He gives the feature I work on an A. Well, Amazon gets a B, and One True Media gets an A-, and I work on those as well. But I think those are good grades. (I’d have given Amazon an A, myself.)

Also, in other news, I was happy to see PC World pick TiVo (the original 14 hour unit we shipped back in 1999) as #3 on their article of the top 50 tech inventions of all time, right behind Netscape and the Apple II. I’m sure a huge amount of very detailed research and meticulous metrics went into their rankings, and it wasn’t just a bunch of guys sitting around a table drinking beer and tossing darts at a list on the wall. Very sure.

For immediate release

Zeigen Inc. begins deployment of level 4 containment devices for its Sammy product

Mountain View, Calif., April 5, /Newswire Press Release/ — Beginning this week, Zeigen Inc. has moved to level 4 toxic containment devices in controlling waste products from the Zeigen Inc. flagship product, Sammy 1.5.

Sammy 1.5’s progress has been accelerating faster than expected, and has reached the minimum 22 pound threshold required for level 4 containment devices.

Kimi Mack, Vice President of Household Operations, said today, “We’re pleased with Sammy’s new achievement. The level four containment devices today prevented a toxic release that would have consumed many cleaning resources. The previous level three devices, if they had still been in use, would have been disastrous.”

This milestone for Sammy 1.5 is a significant achievement, and Zeigen Inc. anticipates use of level five containment devices (also known as diapers) in an upcoming period, perhaps as early as Q4 of this fiscal year, given the anticipated growth for Sammy and the Sammy 2.0 release on September 16th.

TasteTV launches on TiVoCast

Like cooking shows? Not my personal favorite, but Kimi loves ‘em. TiVo is proud to have TasteTV join the TiVoCast lineup. You can sign up for a TasteTV Season Pass immediately if you have a Series2 or Series3 TiVo-enabled DVR connected via broadband. The first episode, about wine, shows off a part of Napa Valley (wine country) that I’ve been to and enjoy very much.

Anniversary part deux

Posted Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 at 11:39pm by Stephen

Tonight was our second wedding anniversary, and to celebrate, John and Yvonne watched Sammy, and Kimi picked out a great Vietnamese restaurant in Palo Alto, Tamarine. (Yelp reviews for Tamarine.)

We started with the mushroom rolls and roti prata, which might have been a bit too much fried food, but were both very delicious. For the main course, we tried the signature Tamarine Prawns along with some curried long beans (green beans, that is), with lemongrass rice. I loved the prawns, and the rice was just amazing, and the beans weren’t bad at all.

For dessert, it was a lemon tart for me, and tapioca with ice cream for Kimi. Both delicious.

All in all I’d recommend the restaurant highly. It didn’t blow me away like Aqua did last year but very delicious, and wonderful to spend time together and think about two years of being married. Love you, sweetie, and thank you!

Will fill in some empty spots for March here and there, and goal is to have a post for every day in April, even if I have to cheat and put in some retro posts there and here.
