Stop what you’re doing and pull up your favorite browser. Read a couple of pages, follow a couple of links. Wait a second, what was on the previous page? Don’t bother hitting the Back button with your mouse –just press Alt+Left Arrow. Now, don’t hit the Forward button either — instead, try Alt+Right Arrow.
First of all, thanks for your blog, I’m learning many useful tips.
Another alternative for this shortcut is:
backspace for back button
shift+backspace for forward button
This works also in Firefox and IE.
This is exactly what doesn’t work in FF3 for me, but did in FF2. Example: go to http://www.google.com and start typing “ie6 vs ie7 ” and notice the autocomplete choices below (speed, performance, javascript performance, etc.). Pick one. Now try to hit Alt+left arrow to get those choices again. Worked in FF2, not in FF3.
I have a similar problem. I use IE8 and what just started happening is that to go back to a previous page I have to hold down the ALT key and double click the the left arrow. Don’t know why. Does anyone have a solution?
holding down the alt key and double clicking the lt arrow key does not work anymore. any suggestions?
