Windows Keyboard Shortcut of the Day

Ctrl+Enter: Send e-mail

Posted in Microsoft Outlook by estephen on June 11th, 2007

It’s Microsoft Outlook week this week.

To start things off, when sending e-mail, don’t bother clicking on that “Send” button — press Ctrl+Enter to send. You’ll need to confirm with a dialog box the first time.

(Note that this will work with many other e-mail programs as well.)

Is there any way to *disable* CTRL-ENTER as a send shortcut?

I am generally a big fan of shortcuts, but because I have wandering fingers I have on more than one occasion sent emails on accident and I can’t have that happen at work anymore. Does anyone have an answer for the above question - can you disable the “send” shortcuts?

Cntl-enter is an IDIOTIC shortcut and the above poster is a MORON. Just wait until you send a vital email by accident before it was ready and you’ll see how ‘wonderful’ this stupid shortcut from Microsoft really is.

For those of us with working brains here is the way to disable this lousy thing.

    Let’s watch the language please.

Personally I use Thunderbird more than Outlook. In Thunderbird, you can disable this easily: Tools | Options | General | select “Confirm when using keyboard shortcut to send message.”
