Along the same lines as yesterday’s trick, if you Ctrl-click on a link, it opens in a new tab. (For IE, that requires IE 7 or later.)

Gmail does this somehow, at least in Chrome. Shift+click on an email row and you open that email in a new window. Ctrl+click and you open it in a new tab. Only problem: digging into gmail s obfuscated code is a PITA Sergio Jun 3 ’13 at 16:26
If it is something that you are just trying to load onto the element, try using this. On page load it will add your target property with the correct attribute.
